What is hypnotherapy?
At its core, hypnotherapy is a type of guided therapy that uses hypnosis to help people make positive changes. That might sound a little mystical, but there’s a practical science behind it.
Hypnosis is simply a deep state of focused relaxation—kind of like that dreamy place between being awake and asleep. In this state, your mind becomes more open to suggestions, allowing a trained hypnotherapist to help you work through challenges, shift habits, or process emotional blocks.
It’s not magic. It’s not mind control. You’re still aware, still in control—you’re just deeply relaxed and more in tune with your inner self.

DOES IT WORK?
Good question! Research shows that hypnotherapy can be effective for certain conditions—especially when it’s used alongside other treatments. For example:
A number of studies support its use for chronic pain management.
It’s also been shown to help with insomnia, anxiety, and even IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
For things like quitting smoking, success often depends on how motivated the person is and whether the hypnotherapist is well-trained.
Like any therapy, results can vary. There is, however, scientific support for its benefits in many cases. In his research paper “Hypnotherapy: A Reappraisal“, Dr. Alfred A Barrios found that, in many cases, hypnotherapy was vastly more successful than other modalities. He found that:
- Psychotherapy when used as a modality on its own had a 38% success rate after 600 sessions;
- Behaviour Therapy, when used as a modality on its own, had a 72% success rate after 22 sessions; and
- Hypnotherapy, when used as a modality on is own, had a 92% success rate after just six sessions!
That’s quite a remarkable outcome. Many studies since have also shown hypnotherapy to be incredibly successful in helping clients achieve their outcomes when combined with other healing modalities.
Please Note: hypnotherapy can only be successful when the client is fully ready to make changes in their life. If a client is really not ready to make changes, or if there is a strong secondary gain to their presenting issues, hypnosis is very unlikely to be successful. This will be discussed with you during your initial discovery call!

How Does hypnotherapy work?
Imagine your mind as having two parts. Firstly is the conscious mind (the part that analyzes, plans, worries). The second part is the subconscious mind (where your beliefs, habits, memories, and emotions live). Hypnotherapy helps quiet the conscious mind so the therapist can speak directly to the subconscious.
That’s important because a lot of the things we want to change—like smoking, overeating, fear of flying, or low self-esteem—are rooted in patterns buried deep in the subconscious. Hypnotherapy works by gently reprogramming those patterns.
A typical session might look like this:
Induction – The therapist guides you into a relaxed state (think deep meditation).
Therapy – While you’re relaxed, the therapist uses suggestions, guided imagery, or therapeutic dialogue to help you shift limiting thoughts or behaviors.
Awakening – You’re brought back to full awareness feeling refreshed—sometimes even lighter.
what can hypnotherapy help with?
Surprisingly, quite a lot! Clients choose to undertake a Hypnotherapy sessions for all kinds of reasons.
While it’s not a magic bullet, hypnotherapy has been used to support people with:
Anxiety and stress
Phobias and fears (like fear of flying or public speaking)
Addictions and habits (smoking, nail biting, emotional eating)
Sleep disorders (insomnia, nightmares)
Chronic pain (especially with conditions like IBS or fibromyalgia)
Self-confidence and performance issues (athletes, performers, students)
And more. It’s often used as a complementary therapy—alongside other treatments or counseling—to help deepen healing and change.
BUSTING THE MYTHS

Let’s set the record straight on a few common misconceptions:
“Will I lose control?”
Nope. You’re always in control. You can’t be made to do anything you wouldn’t normally do.“What if I can’t be hypnotized?”
Most people can be hypnotized to some degree. It’s a natural state—you experience it daily (think highway hypnosis or zoning out during a movie).“Is this just placebo?”
Hypnotherapy has growing scientific support, especially for issues like chronic pain and anxiety. While belief helps, there’s more to it than just placebo.

- A digital copy of the hypnosis session sent to the email address noted on your registration form so that you can continue to listen to the session and reinforce the subconscious changes.

This three session bundle will suit most people. You can use all three sessions to focus on a singe issue if you have resistance to change. Using three sessions in this way will provide additional reinforcement and motivation. Or you can use each session to focus on a different issue. Your three session bundle will provide you with:

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know that you're the right hypnotherapist for me?
We’ll have a short Discovery Call by phone or on Zoom to make sure we “click” and that you feel comfortable with who I am and how we can work together.
I've tried hypnosis before and it doesn't work for me.
Everyone can be hypnotised – it is merely a light trance state that provides the hypnotherapist access to converse with the unconscious mind. You are in this state when you are vegging out and watching TV, when you are just falling asleep, and when you are waking up. Many people experience light trance when they are driving a car – have you ever driven a section of road without remembering? That’s a light trance.
So, if you don’t hink hypnosis has worked for you in the past it could be that you weren’t ready, or that the hypnotherapist wasn’t right for you, or that the program didn’t taget what you wanted. If you feel this applies to you, please do let me know during our discovery call and we’ll figure out what happened so that we can increase our chances of success this time round!
What are your qualifications and background?
I am a fully qualified life coach (and have undertaken additional studies as an Intuitive Coach), I hold a Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Trainer certificate in NLP, I’m certified in the modalities of Quantum and Universal Consciousness, I’m a qualified mediation teacher, a qualified hypnotherapist, and I hold a Masters Degree in Business.

How long does a hypnotherapy session go for?
Usually around one hour.
How soon can I see you?
I often have a full calendar so sometimes there may be a short waitlist for your first appointment. We’ll be able to discuss that during your Discovery Call through, and I may be able to schedule you in sooner if you feel a sense of urgency to get started.
Do I Come To Your Office?
No, I no longer work out of an office. I have a number of clients in Europe and the Americas so my work schedule is quite varied. All of my sessions for Quantum, Coaching, and Hypnotherapy are conducted on Zoom.
Does Zoom really work - is it as good as an in-person session?
HA! I’m hearing you!
I honestly never thought I’d be coaching on Zoom and I definitely never thought I’d facilitate a Quantum or Hypnosis session on Zoom. But they really work. And in some instances, they’re actually more effective than a face-to-face session as clients are more comfortable in their own home, they don’t have the stress of navigating traffic, and it is much more time effective.
How many sessions will I need?
That’s completely up to you and your level of readiness for change. Some people come to see me and they are deeply ready to make lasting and positive change in their lives. These people, assuming they only wish to deal with one thing, will only need one session.
Other people come along and want to make changes but they are not completely ready. These people may need two, three, four sessions for change to take effect. Very rarely does anyone need more than three sessions to address a particular issue, especially if they listen to the recordings in-between sessions.
I've chosen the three session bundle. How often will we have a session?
That’s totally up to you and how ready you feel you are to proceed. Most people have two weeks between sessions.
I'm a little nervous about this. Is hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnotherapy is very safe. It’s not like the movies where you’re “out of it”. You will be fully aware and conscious the whole time – just in a very deep relaxed state. You can’t get stuck in hypnosis any more than you can get stuck in sleep. And nobody can make you do anything against your will.

Your prices are less than other hypnotherapists. Why?
Other hypnotherapists charge what they charge. I’ve chosen my pricing structure to ensure that my services can be readily accessed by almost anyone who might be in a life transition phase. As a comparison, you’ll find my costs are in the mid range of what you would pay for most mental health / therapeutic services in Australia.

How can I pay for the program?
Currently I accept bank transfer only. You can pay in one lump sum prior to the first session, or you can pay in installments when you sign up to the Three Session Bundle. I’m happy to discuss payment options with you during our Discovery call.
