Anxiety and Depression
When therapy, insight, or medication haven’t worked
Anxiety and depression don’t always resolve through understanding, insight, or effort.
Many people arrive here after doing what they were supposed to do — therapy, medication, mindfulness, lifestyle changes — and still find that anxiety hums in the background or low mood quietly shapes their life.
Sharon Burnett works with anxiety and depression using hypnotherapy and quantum consciousness work, particularly with people who haven’t found lasting change through talk therapy or insight alone.
If you feel like you know what’s happening but can’t seem to shift the underlying state, this page is for you.
Why people come to this work
Most clients who seek this work are already self-aware and capable.
They’ve often:
done therapy or counselling
tried medication, mindfulness, or lifestyle changes
reflected deeply, journaled, and understood their patterns
And yet:
anxiety still runs in the background
low mood or emotional flatness persists
emotional reactions feel automatic and out of proportion
relief, when it comes, doesn’t last
This is usually not a motivation problem, a mindset problem, or a lack of insight.
Why anxiety and depression often persist
For many people, anxiety and depression are not caused by faulty thinking.
They are maintained by:
long-term nervous system adaptation
subconscious protective responses
identity organised around coping, responsibility, or survival
When the nervous system has learned to stay alert, guarded, or shut down, insight alone doesn’t interrupt it. You can understand why you feel the way you do and still be pulled into the same internal state under pressure.
Many people describe it like this:
“I know what’s happening — I just can’t stop it.”
In these cases, trying harder often increases self-monitoring and tension rather than creating change.
What I actually do in this work
I don’t work with anxiety or depression by analysing symptoms or correcting thoughts.
Instead, I guide clients into expanded states of consciousness where patterns can be experienced and reorganised beyond the thinking mind.
This work combines:
Hypnotherapy, to access non-analytical states where internal signals are clearer
Quantum consciousness work, which allows clients to step outside habitual identity, time-bound perspective, and conditioned responses
Experiential, client-led processes that work directly with the nervous system and subconscious organisation
Clients are not told what to believe, what to feel, or what should happen.
The work is experiential, state-based, and internally led.
The aim is not to manage anxiety or push depression away, but to change the internal conditions that require those states to persist.
What tends to change
This work does not produce identical outcomes for everyone, and it is not a quick fix.
What people commonly notice instead are functional shifts, such as:
a lower baseline of anxiety rather than constant management
faster emotional recovery after triggers
reduced internal struggle or self-monitoring
less urgency to control or suppress feelings
a greater sense of internal steadiness
For many people, the most noticeable change is that anxiety or low mood no longer dominates decision-making.
They still experience emotions — but those emotions no longer run the system.

Frequently asked questions
Who can help with anxiety when therapy hasn’t worked?
People with anxiety or depression that hasn’t responded to therapy often benefit from approaches that work directly with the nervous system and subconscious states. This work focuses on state-level change rather than insight alone.
How is quantum consciousness work different from talk therapy?
Talk therapy works through language and insight. Quantum work involves guiding clients into expanded states of awareness where identity, emotion, and perception are not organised in the usual way, allowing patterns to shift without being consciously analysed.
Can hypnotherapy help chronic anxiety or depression?
Hypnotherapy can be effective when anxiety or depression is maintained by subconscious patterns or nervous system conditioning. It allows access to internal states where change can occur without effort or analysis.
More than one session is usually required. We can discuss this when we have our intro chat.
Do I need to believe anything for this to work?
This work does not require belief in any spiritual or metaphysical framework. It is experiential rather than belief-based. It does require a willingness to fully participate in the process and is often more effective if you have had previous experience with altered states – such as meditation.
Is this a replacement for medical or mental health care?
No. This work is complementary and does not replace medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment. Clients remain responsible for their healthcare decisions.
